Greetings Wine Enthusiasts! I’m Andrew, the Assistant Winemaker here at Roche Winery, and I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about our latest release: the Roche Pinot Noir Nouveau. This innovative wine is our take on the classic Beaujolais Nouveau, but with a twist that’s uniquely Roche.

Introducing Roche Nouveau: Our Roche Nouveau is crafted from Pinot Noir grapes, offering a fresh and modern spin on the traditional Beaujolais Nouveau, which typically uses Gamay grapes. We skipped the carbonic maceration process and instead opted for a meticulous method to bring out the best in our Pinot Noir.

The Winemaking Process: The Pinot Noir grapes for Roche Nouveau were destemmed and cold soaked in tanks for four days. This technique enhances the extraction of flavors and colors. After the cold soak, we pressed the grapes and separated the juice, fermenting it off the skins. The result is a vibrant wine that’s meant to be enjoyed young and chilled.

A Trendy, Chillable Red: Roche Nouveau falls into the category of chillable reds – wines that are perfect for serving cold and are incredibly refreshing. In France, such wines are called "glou glou," meaning they’re wonderfully chuggable. Roche Nouveau is a no-fuss wine that’s easy to drink and pairs well with a variety of foods.

Tasting Notes: Expect an explosion of floral and red fruit notes, with a crisp and refreshing finish on the palate. Roche Nouveau is designed to be an everyday delight, perfect for casual sipping and social gatherings. A good BBQ or Summertime hot weather wine. Even a good cheese and apps wine. With raspberry, cranberry and blood orange, it has a refreshing tartness/fruitiness. Low tannins, moderate acidity. Not sweet.

A Nod to Our History: We’re also proud to share that the artwork for the Roche Nouveau label has a special story. We’ve repurposed original artwork from our Pinot Sec bottle, created by local Marin artist Muriel Ullman back in 1995. This beautiful piece has been given new life, adding a touch of nostalgia and elegance to our latest release.
